Greetings,

This Valentine’s Day, help welcome newly admitted UMGC students with a message from someone who understands their journey best—you. Record a short video sharing what you loved most about your UMGC education and one piece of advice you wish you’d heard at the start.

This video will be shared with newly admitted UMGC students as they begin their education journey.

Please include the following in your message:
  • Your name
  • Your major or degree program
  • Your graduation year
  • Location
  • One thing you loved about learning at UMGC
  • A piece of advice you would share with a incoming UMGC student as they start their education journey
Please keep your video around one minute or less if possible. Thank you for helping us welcome the next generation of UMGC learners. Your experience—and your encouragement—reminds our newest students that they’re joining a community that’s rooting for their success.

Recording Tips:
  • You can record directly to ThankView on your desktop or mobile device.
  • Make sure to film horizontally so you fill the frame.
  • If recording using a phone or tablet, use a tripod or prop it up with something like books for stability. Try not to hold it.
  • Keep your device close for good sound quality but far enough away that you are the focus. Try 3-4 feet.
  • Choose a location that provides balanced lighting. Try to find a room that has a lot of natural light.
  • Be yourself and have fun!
Materials submitted to thankyou@umgc.edu and to the video link via ThankView, which may include your image, name, quotation, testimonial or endorsement may appear in promotional materials such as social media, emails, or other media.  By submitting your materials to thankyou@umgc.edu and the video link via ThankView above you are also agreeing to authorize UMGC to edit and modify your quotation/testimonial/endorsement for length and consistency in grammar, punctuation, and style.
  1. Select ‘Record Video’ to begin the process
  2. Enable your webcam.
  3. Click ‘Start Recording’ and wait for the 3 second countdown.
  4. When you are finished recording, click ‘Stop Recording.’
  5. Wait for your video to upload to our servers.
  6. Click the play button to review your video. If you are not satisfied with your recording, you can click ‘Rerecord’ and try again. If you are satisfied with your recording, click ‘Submit Video’.
  7. Accept our terms and conditions to complete submission.
  1. Select ‘Record Video’ to begin the process.
  2. Click ‘Record Video’ or ‘Upload Video’. Please wait for your video to upload to our servers.
  3. Click the play button to review your video. You can rerecord or upload another video if you are not satisfied with your recording.
  4. If you are satisfied with your recording, click ‘Submit Video’ and ‘Continue’ to accept our terms and conditions and submit your video.
